Dear Ludwig Families,
My name is Jeff Kulik, and I’m the principal at Ludwig School. To those returning families, welcome back! To those families that are new to Ludwig and/or D92, I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in elementary education from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and my Master's Degree in educational administration from St. Xavier University. Most recently, I earned my Chief School Business Official endorsement from Concordia University.
This is my 3rd year serving as the Principal at Ludwig School, and I'm honored to be part of a tremendous school community. Prior to joining the D92 team, I logged 16 years in the education field at Forest Ridge School District 142 in Oak Forest, IL. I served as both a 3rd and 5th grade classroom teacher at Lee R. Foster Elementary School, and I served 8 years as the principal of G. Kerkstra Elementary School. During that time, Kerkstra School earned an Exemplary Summative Designation from the State of Illinois and we were recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School.
The academic day at Ludwig revolves around a block schedule for ELA and Math. Other core subjects, such as Science and Social Studies, are also taught by our homeroom teachers. In addition to our core content, students receive Physical Education five days per week, Music two days per week, Art one day per week, and Library/Media one day per week.
Educational supports for all learners are provided, which include interventions for struggling students and enrichment opportunities for those who excel. These targeted supports are often provided during our “Powertime” portion of the school day. More robust support for our ELL (English Language Learners) and special needs populations help ensure that ALL students receive what they need to be successful at school.
Extracurricular opportunities are also available for all students, including Band, Choir, and a variety of offerings from Club 92. More information about Club 92 programming can be found at the Lockport Park District website. After-school care provided by OASIS is also available on-site, for families that need it.
We remain grateful for the time and commitment our parents and community members show to enhance the educational experience of all our students. A special thank you goes out to our PFA (Parent Faculty Association), the D92 Athletic Association, and all the local businesses that help to support all that we do at Ludwig School!
It’s in your child’s best interest that we work together to ensure that he/she has a successful and memorable school year. Please don’t hesitate to reach out via email (jkulik@d92.org) or by phone (815) 838-8020 with any questions or comments.
On a personal level, my wife, son and I live here in Homer Glen, and I'm proud to serve the community where I reside. In my spare time I love to play guitar, go to concerts, go bowling, and go hiking. I’m also a die hard White Sox fan!
I truly believe that by being a life-long learner, subscribing to a growth mindset, and setting high expectations for ourselves, we will continue to positively move the needle on student growth and achievement. As we navigate the upcoming year together, I look forward to partnering with all of our families to provide our students with a world-class education. It’s my vision to keep the teaching and learning relevant, rigorous, and engaging for all of our Ludwig scholars!
